Dragons of Covid #2 - The Black Dragon

As I mention on the post, Reaper 89001: Red Dragon…turned Blue, a while back I was doing a project I called “The Dragons of Covid”.  I say project.  Heh.  I was amusing myself by painting Dragons while we were all sequestered in our homes.  I was working from home and had all that extra time I’d normally be in traffic….what is a gamer supposed to do?

So the first Dragon I painted (but the second one in the blog) was an old favorite of mine…..  The Black Dragon!

The miniature was WizKids Young Black Dragon.  The sculpt was excellent!  It looked a lot like the artwork from the 5e Monster Manual.

Now on to the painting!  Black, as you may know, is hard to paint.  Correction:  Hard to paint well.  Shading is problematic.  To shade black you use other colors like grey, brown, blue, etc.  I went with greys on the body and wing spars.  The underbelly is meant to resemble bone and is the same color as as the horns framing the face.

Overall, I was very happy with the turn out and I hope you enjoy.
