A funny thing happened in the Village of Hommlett

Many many many years ago, while still learning to play D&D, my friends and I went to an event held at the local game shop.  Ok, it was actually a Frame Shop that also sold Gaming books and supplies.  The four of us were kind of apprehensive as all the rest of the people there were both older and more experienced gamers than ourselves. 

Our intrepid group – Carl (Wizard), Joe (Ranger), Doug (Bard-to-Be), and Me (Wizard).

There were effectively two different parties wandering towards the old keep at Hommlet.  Us and the more experienced people.  (Later I realized they were using us a Mine Detectors)  Our party was walking by the river when suddenly we were attacked by Giant Frogs!

We flew into combat quickly!  Magic missle at the Toad!  4 points of damage!  Yay! 

Wait…..  That Toad is still up.  And moving.  And…..  THWAP!

WTH Hell happened to the BARD!  There was this tongue and then just feet!

In the end, it was a short encounter.
