WotC has Jumped the Shark - Part 2
I few weeks ago, I had a blog post about WotC/Hasbro “Jumping the Shark” during their quest to monetize anything to do with Dungeons and Dragons. At that point, I didn’t think it could get any worse.
Well, here we are with Part 2 of WotC jumping the shark….this time with Rubber Ducks representing two of the characters from the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. You see, Just Geek has recently announced that pre-orders for the first two D&D ducks, Hank the Ranger and Diana the Acrobat, are now open. These two ducks are based on characters from the beloved 80s D&D animated series, where a group of kids are transported to a fantastical world filled with dragons, monsters, and adventure. The D&D ducks are officially licensed merchandise, designed by Numskulls, and come in a special 'first edition' collector's bathtub with the D&D logo and a stamp and sticker indicating their limited availability.
From the Just Geek website:
Hank the Ranger is a natural born leader, a skill that will be very useful as he heads to the duck pond as a collectable rubber duck. Armed with his magical bow and arrows he’s feeling brave and confident, ready to take on the world… and the pond.
Get ready for some magical adventures as Diana the Acrobat joins the TUBBZ cosplaying rubber duck collectables. The gold medallist is set for any challenge, so being a duck is no problem, she can rely on her magical javelin should she face a bit of bother.
