What can WotC screw up today? Dark Sun!

Ahh, Dark Sun. Who remembers that classic gaming world?

Dark Sun was a tabletop role-playing game that was first introduced in 1991. As a post-apocalyptic fantasy world, it was set in the harsh and unforgiving desert world of Athas, where water was scarce, metal was rare, and survival was a daily struggle. What made Dark Sun unique was its bleak and gritty tone, which was a far cry from the more traditional high fantasy settings of many other role-playing games. The world was filled with danger and intrigue, and players had to navigate complex political systems, survive hostile environments, and contend with powerful magic that came with a terrible cost. For many fans, Dark Sun was a game that challenged their assumptions about what a fantasy world could be, and it remains a beloved classic to this day.

So one has to wonder, why has Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast ignored this intellectual property?

Well, in an interview with YouTuber 'Bob the Worldbuilder', Wizard of the Coast’s own Kyle Brink explains why…….and yes it is because they are Woke and do not want to offend anyone.

I’ll be frank here, the Dark Sun setting is problematic in a lot of ways. And that’s the main reason we haven’t come back to it. We know it’s got a huge fan following and we have standards today that make it extraordinarily hard to be true to the source material and also meet our ethical and inclusion standards... We know there’s love out there for it and god we would love to make those people happy, and also we gotta be responsible.
