Judges Guild art up for Auction

I love going through online auctions and seeing things I wished I could buy.

While going through the Heritage Auction website, I came across a few really interesting things in their upcoming 2023 March 30 - April 2 Comics & Comic Art Signature® Auction #7339.

First we have an Amazing Fantasy #15 graded at a 7.5 - talk about a CLASSIC. But, the current bid price of $900k puts it slightly outside my affordability range.

It was while digging through the more affordable items that we find six pieces of art from Kevin Siembieda.

Siembieda is known for rendering more than 400 D&D illustrations for Judges Guild in 1979 and 1980, which marked his initial foray into RPGs. His artwork has also been featured in products from Steven Jackson Games, FASA, Tops Bubble Gum Cards, Noble Comics, and other companies. Siembieda eventually co-founded Palladium Books and served as its President, where he designed the popular Robotech RPG in 1986 and the innovative Rifts RPG in 1990.

These original black and white illustrations could have been used in various Judges Guild materials, as the auction house notes:

It is unknown exactly where (these pieces were) first published; however, Judges Guild was known to reuse artwork in several publications. Kevin Siembieda began playing TSR's Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, and shortly after began working as an artist for Judges Guild on their own D&D-related products.

The Judges Guild assertion stems from the date of 1979. Irregardless, these are classic pieces of art stemming from the early days of TTRPG, and would be a treasure to any collection.

Finally, I did stumble upon something else (also out of my price range) that I would be ashamed if I did not mention. As many of you know, I am a big Creature from the Black Lagoon fan and I recently blogged about Ricco Browning passing away.

Well, also in this auction will be the secondary mask from the Gil-Man. Anyone want to spot me some money?
