Happy Name Your Poison Day!

In the world of Dungeons and Dragons, poisons are a common tool used by assassins, drow, and other evil creatures. But how can players incorporate poisons into their own gameplay?

First, it's important to know the different types of poisons: contact, ingested, inhaled, and injury. Contact poisons can be useful for setting traps or coating objects, like door handles or weapons, to deal damage. Ingested poisons are great for poisoning food or drink, and can be a subtle way to take out a target. Inhaled poisons can be especially deadly, affecting multiple creatures in a small area. And injury poisons can be used to coat weapons and deal extra damage in combat.

But using poisons isn't as simple as just applying them to an object or using them on a creature. Players must consider the potential consequences of using poisons, both in terms of legal repercussions and moral implications. Using poisons may make the player's character appear more ruthless or evil, and could damage their reputation with certain factions or NPCs.

Additionally, acquiring poisons may not be easy. Poisons are often illegal, and obtaining them may require the player to interact with seedy individuals or break the law themselves. Players should also be aware of potential backlash from other players or the DM if they use poisons in an overly aggressive or disruptive manner.

In honor of today being National Name Your Poison Day, below are 10 new poisons to use in your game.
