Happy Birthday to Drunkards & Dragons

It's incredible to think that an entire year has passed since I embarked on this journey with the website. The passage of time feels both fleeting and surreal, as if it were only yesterday that I began this endeavor while gaming with the group.

Rather than indulging in personal reflections on my accomplishments over the past year, I would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the contributors and supporters who have played an instrumental role in making this website possible.

To each and every one of you, I want to extend my deepest thanks. Your unwavering dedication, support, and contributions have been invaluable throughout this journey. It is because of your collective efforts that this website has flourished and grown into what it is today.

Our Cast of Characters

Russ, also known as @SplashDamage1 on Twitter, has been an integral part of our project right from the beginning. His first post on Character Development showcased his keen insight into creating compelling personas. However, it didn't take long for Russ to establish himself as our go-to "Miniatures guy" with his exceptional creations. From the mischievous Its a Mimic and the Its Not Gimli figure to his memorable encounters with Citadel Miniatures, Rats, Grenadier Wraith, and the formidable Demogorgon, Russ has consistently delighted us with his talent and attention to detail. Each miniature he brings to life becomes a work of art that adds depth and richness to our project. We are grateful to have Russ on board, and we eagerly look forward to the masterpieces he will create in the future.

Brian, the founder of TMSyndicate on Twitch and @RBAnder238 on Twitter, initially joined our team as our Dungeon Master (DM), but he quickly became an invaluable member of our close-knit family. Brian's expertise and unique influences have greatly impacted our gaming group, elevating our adventures to new heights. We are thrilled to have him officially join our team, as he continues to excel in his role as our DM, crafting immersive and unforgettable campaigns. In addition to his exceptional DM skills, Brian has generously shared his wealth of knowledge through insightful content, such as his DM Pro Tip series, which provides invaluable guidance for aspiring dungeon masters. Furthermore, his captivating World Building Series, consisting of Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4, has inspired us to create rich and vibrant game worlds that truly come alive. Brian's passion, creativity, and dedication make him an invaluable asset, and we are grateful to have him as an integral part of our team.

Even Steph, my wonderful wife, has fearlessly jumped into the fray with her own unique contributions to our endeavor. She has delved into the world of Simulation Games, exploring the realm of introverts and their role-playing experiences. Steph has also shed light on the transformative power of Dungeons and Dragons, showcasing how this once-taboo game has become a therapeutic tool for many. In addition to her insightful work, she brings her expertise as our resident horror expert, guiding us through spine-chilling tales and immersive experiences. Together, we make an unstoppable team, traveling and exploring various locations that fuel our imaginations. Be sure to check out our gallery for a glimpse into the captivating places we've visited along the way. Steph's presence and adventurous spirit have added an invaluable dimension to our project, and I'm grateful to have her as my partner in crime.

In addition to the remarkable contributions from our dedicated supporters, we would like to acknowledge several other significant achievements from the past year. Throughout this journey, we had the privilege of conducting insightful interviews with DEI Games and Luke Barnett, both of which provided valuable perspectives and added depth to our content.

Furthermore, I had the honor of being quoted in an article that explored the role of humor in RPGs. It was a humbling experience to see our ideas resonate with others and contribute to the broader conversation in the gaming community.

Lastly, we am thrilled to announce that we have enlisted the expertise of Glenn, a prominent player from the Drunkards and Dragons community, as our Branding Ambassador. You can find him on Twitter and Instagram under the handle @Lludd. Alongside his talented daughter, Glenn has played a pivotal role in shaping our visual identity by creating captivating logos and designs that truly represent our vision.

This journey has truly been a team effort, and we am grateful for the collaborative spirit that has driven us forward. The combined efforts of our contributors, interviewees, and branding ambassador have helped transform this website into a thriving community that celebrates creativity, diversity, and shared experiences.

I am excited to see what the future holds as we continue to grow and evolve together. With such a dedicated and talented team behind us, I have no doubt that we will achieve even greater milestones in the years to come. Once again, my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has played a part in making this journey a success.

So, what’s next for Drunkards and Dragons?

Well, we have started expanding our Social Media presences with Instagram, Mastadon, YouTube and Twitter. In addition, there are some new gaming projects in the pipeline, starting with our soon to be first published adventure, more live-stream gaming (possibly The Walking Dead) and the possibility of an additional channel. Also, there could be more contributors from the team, as we add players and current players chip in. In fact, a little birdy told me that Pav is writing something as we speak.

Overall, none of this could have been done without you….the reader, follower, subscriber. I know we have hit some bumps with some of you over the year. Some have blocked us, others have taken a more mature approach and we worked through our disagreements, but we have continued to grow. I honestly mean it when I say - I am really looking forward to what the next year holds, and we invite you to join us.

Thank you for your support - Cheers.
