Demogorgon

A while back Ed posted a writeup on a flaw in Netflix’s Stranger Things and its titular character, the Demogorgon and its D&D Miniature.

This was about that Demogorgon miniature used in Stranger Things. I happened to have one of those miniatures that was half painted and sitting on a shelf in my office. This weekend, I finished painting and making the base.

Originally I had put the figure on a small base but was not too happy with the ‘less than spectacular’ effect it had

So I 3D printed the new base, added some ‘ballast gravel’ and a few 3D printed skulls that I had floating around. What!? You don’t have skulls floating around? How strange…….

For the paint job, I airbrushed a gradient from blue to green using acrylic inks. One of the first times I’d used both airbrush AND inks. I’m pleased with the result. Washes in the recesses helped a good bit as well.

I am particualy pleased at the gradient of color on the chest area. Lots of thing washes. Oh! And the divot in the chest is visible in the miniature as well!

And here’s a video link of the project:
